Man from Jembrana Arrested for Illegal Logging in Klatakan Forest
The Jembrana Police Resort (Polres Jembrana) has arrested a man, identified by the initials AH (35), in connection with an illegal logging case in the Banjar Klatakan forest area, Melaya Village, Jembrana, Bali. AH has been named a suspect after being found in possession of 34 teak wood logs resulting from illegal logging.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at Polres Jembrana, AKP I Gede Alit Darmana, revealed that the case came to light following a community report on Sunday (7/6). According to Darmana, local residents suspected that teak wood looted from the Klatakan forest area was being stored in a local warehouse.
“Every piece of information provided by the community will be followed up professionally and proportionally,” Alit stated at his office on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
Following the report, police conducted an investigation and inspected the specified location. Officers discovered dozens of teak logs lacking official documentation. “Officers found 34 teak logs of various sizes, with an average length of approximately two metres, which were successfully seized from the warehouse. The teak wood is suspected to have originated from the forest area,” Alit explained.
Based on initial examinations, the owner of the wood admitted that the dozens of teak logs were felled from the Klatakan forest area without valid permits. AH and all evidence have been secured at the Jembrana Police Headquarters.
“This disclosure is part of the Jembrana Police’s commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability and providing a deterrent effect against perpetrators of forest destruction,” said Alit.
Alit emphasised that efforts to eradicate forest destruction practices will continue. He stated that the police will persist with preventive, pre-emptive, and sustained law enforcement actions. “We are still conducting further investigations and deepening our inquiry into the suspect, AH, to determine the involvement of other parties,” he concluded.
