Man found strangled in alley

JAKARTA: A bird seller, Solikhin, 22, was found dead with a wire wound around his neck on Thursday morning in a dead-end alley near his home on Jl. Arya Putra in Pamulang, Tangerang.

Solikhin had a reputation as a heavy drinker and was often seen lying on the street in a drunken sleep. When a neighbor, Soleh, saw him lying in the alley behind Soleh's mineral water refill depot, he thought Solikhin was asleep.

Soleh did not notice the wire around Solikhin's neck, so he told Solikhin's brother Mahmud to wake him. They later discovered that he was dead.

The case is being investigated by Ciputat Police. -- JP
