Man Found Dead with Neck Wound in Sleman, Police: Suspected Suicide

A man with the initials S (47), a resident of Gunungkidul, was found dead with a cut wound to his neck on Friday (15/5) morning in Dusun Klawisan Topadan, Margoagung, Seyegan, Sleman. The police investigation concluded that the victim intentionally took his own life.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim is suspected of having died by suicide due to the illness he was suffering from,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Sleman Police, Iptu Argo Anggoro, to reporters, Friday (15/5/2026).

Argo explained that the incident was reported on Friday (15/5) at 07.10 WIB. Before the incident, the victim had met a male witness with the initials U, who was also a local resident, on Thursday (14/5) evening. The victim told the witness that he could not sleep because of acid reflux.

“On Thursday evening, May 14, 2026, at around 21.00 WIB, witness U met the victim who said he could not sleep because of acid reflux,” he said.

The next day, at around 06.45 WIB, the victim’s mother saw bloodstains in the victim’s room. Because she was suspicious, she called the Head of the local community unit and reported it to the Seyegan Police. Officers from the Seyegan Police, the INAFIS team, and medical personnel immediately went to the scene.

“The victim was found dead with a cut wound on his neck and a knife next to the victim’s body. The victim was then taken to Bhayangkara Hospital,” he said.

Argo continued, the preliminary investigation found no fingerprints on the knife at the scene. A note was found, allegedly written by the victim. The victim’s family did not want an autopsy.

“The family stated that the victim had previously said goodbye because he could not bear the acid reflux and the family refused to have an autopsy,” he said.

Previously, residents of Dusun Klawisan Topadan, Kalurahan Margoagung, Seyegan, Sleman Regency, were shocked by the discovery of a man’s body. According to information circulating, the body was found with a cut wound on its neck.

The body of the man with the initials S was first discovered by his mother at around 07.00 WIB this morning.

The Head of Margoagung, Djarwo Suharto, when confirmed, confirmed the discovery of the body in the house.

“As the Head of Margoagung, we express our condolences to our residents in the Margoagung community, especially in Dusun Klawisan Topadan. We know that he has passed away,” said Djarwo to reporters, Friday (15/5/2026).

According to him, the victim’s body was found lying on his back. According to him, when he arrived at the location, there were already police and military officers.

“We only know that he has passed away. We arrived at the location and there were officers from the police and the military,” he said.

He added that, administratively, the victim was actually a resident of Gunungkidul. However, because he was recently appointed as a PPPK (Government Contract Worker) for Sleman Regency, the victim returned to live in his hometown.

“He was recently appointed as a PPPK in the Public Works Office. Automatically, they have to work in the Sleman Regency Government. So the deceased returned to his hometown because his mother is still here,” he said.
