Man found dead with gunshot wound to head in Pesanggrahan
Jakarta (ANTARA) — A man with initials BAS, aged 54, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head inside a house on Jalan Deplu I RT 001/RW 03, Kelurahan Bintaro, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March.
“After conducting a preliminary investigation of the crime scene, we immediately coordinated with the Police Hospital to carry out an autopsy to determine whether any other crimes occurred,” said Pesanggrahan Police District Chief Kompol Seala Syah Alam during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Seala explained that the incident was first discovered by residents after a pet dog in the vicinity had been barking continuously since the morning. A witness then checked near the victim’s house and briefly observed the victim’s leg protruding from what appeared to be a bedroom or study. Upon returning to the location after Friday prayers, the witness found the victim already deceased, with blood on the face and mattress. “Residents subsequently reported the incident to police via the emergency number 110,” he stated.
Seala added that police also recovered one firearm and three airsoft guns from the scene, which were secured for further examination. “Regarding the weapons, we from the police naturally coordinated with the Intelligence and Security Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Sub-directorate of Firearms Control, to investigate the ownership of the firearm. As there are several items — one firearm and three airsoft guns,” he said.
He confirmed that the firearm found at the scene was a 9-millimetre calibre weapon. Police also established that the firearm did not have a valid ownership licence. Additionally, police are still investigating the origins of the weapons. “We are currently conducting a deeper investigation,” Seala stated.
