Man Found Dead in Rented Room Near Pinang Ranti

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Residents in the Pinang Ranti area, Makasar District, East Jakarta, were shocked by the discovery of a man’s body in a rented room opposite the Pinang Ranti Terminal. Makasar Police Chief Kompol Sumardi stated on Wednesday that the discovery followed a report from residents about a foul smell emanating from the property. Officers arrived at the scene to find the door locked from the inside. After gaining entry, they discovered the body of a man in an advanced state of decomposition. An initial examination conducted with the East Jakarta Metro Police Identification Team (Inafis) found no signs of violence on the body. Police estimate the victim had been dead for approximately three days before being found. The body has been transferred to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for autopsy. Sumardi appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid speculating about the cause of death until the official autopsy results are released.
