Man Found Dead in Boarding House Room, Discovery Prompted by Package Courier's Suspicion
Muhammad Basir (43), a man from Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, was found dead in a boarding house room located at Jalan Gatot Subroto VI T, North Denpasar, at approximately 15:30 Wita on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
The discovery of the body originated from the boarding house owner, Dewa Komang Yoga Antara (61), who received a report from a witness named Sugiono.
“Sugiono had previously been visited by a package courier who inquired about the victim’s whereabouts,” said Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, Public Relations Chief of Denpasar Police, on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Because several packages had arrived but there was no response from inside the room, Sugiono then called the boarding house owner to check on Basir’s condition. The two of them proceeded to Basir’s boarding house room.
After being called several times with no answer, the boarding house owner took the initiative to break down the door. When the door was successfully opened, Basir was found naked and not breathing.
“The victim was found lying on his back in his boarding house room. Based on initial examination results from the identification team, no signs of violence were found on the victim’s body,” said Adi.
He explained that when discovered, the victim’s head was facing west and his feet facing east. From the scene, officers also found several items belonging to the victim.
“Items belonging to the victim found at the location include three mobile phones and several medications,” he explained.
Furthermore, based on initial examination results, Basir’s death is suspected to have been caused by illness. Nevertheless, the police are continuing to conduct further investigation and examination regarding the incident in accordance with procedures.
“The preliminary suspicion is that the victim died from illness, but handling continues to be carried out according to procedure,” he added.
