Man Found Dead in Bantul Resident's Home with Head Injuries
A man was found dead inside a resident’s house in Pringgading, Guwosari, Pajangan, Bantul, with his body covered in wounds. Police are currently investigating the cause of death, as the victim had reportedly been drinking with his companions beforehand.
Bantul Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Rita Hidayanto, said police initially received a report from residents about a person found dead inside a house on Sunday (23/8) at 11.20 pm Western Indonesia Time. Pajangan Police personnel went to the location to conduct an initial examination.
“From the initial examination at the discovery site, the man was found lying stretched out with a number of wounds on his body,” she said when contacted by journalists on Monday (24/8/2026).
Rita continued that based on the investigation, the man was identified as Triyanto (40), also known as Munil, a resident of Ngestiharjo, Kasihan, Bantul. Upon discovering wounds on Munil’s body, police contacted the Inafis team from the Bantul Police Criminal Investigation Unit and medical staff from Pajangan Community Health Centre to examine the victim’s condition.
From the initial examination, a torn wound was found on the back of Munil’s body. In addition, blood was still flowing from his ear, and there was dried blood fluid on his nose.
“A lump wound was also found on the back left side of the head with a diameter of approximately four centimetres. There were also three scratch wounds on the back, each about six centimetres long,” she said.
Apart from that, Rita said medical personnel also found signs of rigor mortis on the victim’s body. Meanwhile, cyanosis, a condition where the skin and mucous membranes turn blue due to lack of oxygen in the blood, was visible on the tips of both fingers and toes.
“Based on the initial examination, the victim is estimated to have died more than two hours before being found,” she said.
Regarding whether Munil was a murder victim, Rita admitted that further investigation was still needed. She explained that police were still taking statements from a number of witnesses near the location where the victim was found.
“The exact cause of the victim’s death is still under development and police investigation. A number of witnesses have been examined to determine the sequence of events before the victim was found dead,” she said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police established that Munil had met with his friends on Saturday (22/8) night. Besides meeting them, Munil had also consumed alcohol.
“From the initial information obtained by police, the victim had previously been with a number of people drinking alcohol in Ngestiharjo on Saturday night,” she said.
After that, the victim was known to have moved to several locations until he was eventually found dead in a resident’s house in Guwosari, Pajangan.
“But police have not yet concluded whether the sequence of activities is linked to the victim’s death. Police are still examining witnesses and gathering statements and evidence at the scene,” she said.
