Man Found Dead in Bantul Resident's Home Was Murder Victim, Three Arrested

Police have arrested three people in connection with the death of Triyanto (40), also known as Munil, whose body was found covered in wounds in Pringading, Guwosari, Pajangan, Bantul. The three individuals are suspected of carrying out an assault that led to the victim’s death.

‘The body found covered in wounds points towards an assault resulting in death,’ said Bantul Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKP Subihan Afuan Ardhi when contacted by journalists on Monday evening (24/8/2026).

Subihan said police had conducted an investigation and had so far managed to detain several suspected perpetrators. The suspects were apprehended in a series of arrests from Sunday night (23/8) through to Monday.

‘We have detained the suspected perpetrators, some last night and some today. For now, the number of suspects in custody stands at three,’ he said.

Regarding the identities of the suspects, Subihan said he could not yet disclose them, as police are still conducting intensive examinations of the three individuals and investigating whether there are additional perpetrators.

‘We are still looking into their respective roles,’ he said.

Subihan added that once all suspected perpetrators have been apprehended, police will hold a press conference to disclose the case.

‘Once all suspects are in custody, we will hold a release,’ he said.

It was previously reported that a man was found dead inside a resident’s home in the Pringading area of Guwosari, Pajangan, Bantul, with his body covered in wounds. Police are investigating the cause of death, as the man had reportedly been drinking with his companions beforehand.

Bantul Police Public Relations Head Iptu Rita Hidayanto said police initially received a report from residents about a person found dead inside a house on Sunday (23/8) at 11.20 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. Officers from Pajangan Police subsequently visited the location to conduct an initial examination.

‘From the initial examination at the scene, the man was found lying flat with a number of wounds on his body,’ she said when contacted by journalists on Monday (24/8).

Rita said the investigation identified the man as Triyanto (40), also known as Munil, a resident of Ngestiharjo, Kasihan, Bantul. Upon discovering wounds on Munil’s body, police contacted the Bantul Police Criminal Investigation Unit’s Inafis team as well as medical staff from Pajangan Community Health Centre to examine the victim’s condition.

The initial examination found a laceration on the back of Munil’s body. In addition, blood was still flowing from his ear, and there was dried blood residue around his nose.

‘A lump wound was also found on the back left side of the head with a diameter of approximately four centimetres. There were also three scratch wounds on the back, each approximately six centimetres long,’ she said.
