A 46-year-old man identified by the initials AB was found dead inside a security post in Babakan sub-district, Bogor Tengah, Bogor City. Residents found him sitting in the post.

“[We] checked the scene where a body was found in Babakan sub-district, Bogor Tengah district. The body was found at a security post,” Bogor Tengah Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief Ipda Budi Setiawan said on Thursday (22 October 2026).

Budi said AB had been found sitting at the neighbourhood security post in Babakan, Bogor Tengah, the previous night. A resident called out to him, but he did not respond. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene subsequently pronounced him dead.

“The witness saw Abu Thalib sitting at the security post. When the witness called out to him, he did not respond or move. The witness then contacted Siloam Hospital, whose staff said he had died,” Budi said.

Budi said the man was believed to have died of illness. His family considered the incident a misfortune and declined a post-mortem examination.

“The preliminary suspicion is that the victim died of illness. The family did not wish for a medical examination or autopsy to be carried out and submitted a written statement,” Budi said.

“The family then agreed to take the body to the funeral home and bury him in Kebon Pedes, Bogor City,” he added.
