Man Faces Heavy Sentence for Kidnapping and Raping Female Student in Makassar

A man in Makassar, South Sulawesi, faces a potential 12-year prison sentence after being charged with kidnapping and raping a female student from Kalimantan. The perpetrator, identified as Feri Bin Dg Rumpa, has been apprehended following an investigation triggered by the discovery of the victim held captive.

The Chief of Makassar Police, Commissioner Arya Perdana, confirmed that the suspect will be charged under Article 473 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years. He will also face charges under Article 466 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of 5 years.

The incident came to light when the owner of the rented property in Grand River View housing complex, Laurua Residence, arrived to inspect the premises after the lease expired on May 10th. Upon arrival, the owner found the door and discovered a woman with her hands tied.

The victim, identified as MR (20), had been held captive for three days and allegedly subjected to sexual assault by the perpetrator, DR (29). After escaping, she sought help from local residents, who then reported the incident to the police. A video of the rescue went viral on social media, showing the victim in a distressed state with her hands still tied and visible injuries.
