Man Embezzles Church Funds of Rp 28 Billion in Labuhanbatu to Build Cafe and Mini Zoo
Police have arrested Andi Hakim Febriansyah (AHF) in connection with the embezzlement of funds worth Rp 28 billion from the Catholic Church Parish of Aek Nabara in Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra. The money was used by the perpetrator to build businesses, including a mini zoo.
“Its use included investments in areas such as a sports centre, cafe, mini zoo, and several other business premises,” said the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at North Sumatra Police, Commissioner Rahmat Budi Handoko, as reported by detikSumut on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Police will seize all private businesses and investments belonging to the suspect Andi Hakim Febriansyah. This seizure will be carried out after obtaining permission from the court.
“So we will later submit a request for court permission to carry out the seizure,” he stated.
Nevertheless, to date, no assets have been seized. Police are still awaiting the results of further examinations.
“For now, no. But based on the suspect’s confession, there are several assets that we will secure,” he explained.
All these assets are known to be located in the Labuhanbatu Regency area.
Suspect’s Wife’s Involvement Probed
The investigation does not stop there; police will also delve into the involvement of Camelia Rosa (CS), the wife of suspect Andi Hakim Febriansyah. So far, police are still focusing on examining the suspect Andi.
“If there is involvement from his wife, assisting or in this case deceiving, and sufficient evidence to name her a suspect, we will designate her as such,” he said.
