Man Ejected from Bekasi Line KRL for Vaping on Train

A video of a man using an electronic vaping device inside an electric commuter train (KRL) has gone viral on social media. Officers took firm action against the vaping passenger.

In the circulating video, the man is seen smoking a vape in front of the train door. He takes several puffs and exhales clouds of vapour.

The train appears relatively quiet at the time. One passenger recorded the man’s vaping and reported it to the authorities.

Manager of Public Relations at KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI), Leza Arlan, said officers verified the facts regarding the report of the vaping passenger. Officers checked CCTV footage from inside the train and took a statement from the reported individual.

“Security officers at Klenderbaru Station questioned the vaping user, and he admitted to smoking an electronic cigarette inside the Commuter Line,” Leza said on Thursday (9/7/2026).

He explained that the incident occurred on Commuter Line No 5141C (Cikarang-Angke) on Wednesday (8/7) at around 4.45pm Western Indonesia Time. The vaping man was detained by officers at Klenderbaru Station.

“The perpetrator was then asked to sign a written statement and is no longer permitted to board the Commuter Line,” he said.

KAI Commuter urged all passengers to comply with the applicable rules, including not smoking — even with electronic cigarettes — at stations or on board the Commuter Line.

“We will not hesitate to take action against users who violate the rules while travelling on the Commuter Line,” he said.
