Man Ejected from Bekasi Line KRL for Vaping on Train

A video of a man using an electronic cigarette or vape inside an electric commuter train (KRL) has gone viral on social media, prompting swift action from security officers. In the circulating footage, the man is seen puffing on a vape near the train door, repeatedly inhaling and exhaling the vapour. The carriage was relatively quiet at the time, and a fellow passenger recorded the incident and reported it to the authorities. KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan stated that officers verified the report by checking CCTV footage inside the train and questioning the individual. “Security officers at Klenderbaru Station questioned the user who was vaping, and he admitted to smoking an electronic cigarette inside the Commuter Line,” Leza said on Thursday (9/7/2026). She explained that the incident took place on Commuter Line No 5141C travelling from Cikarang to Angke on Wednesday (8/7) at 4.45 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. The man was detained by officers at Klenderbaru Station. “The perpetrator was subsequently required to sign a statement and was prohibited from continuing his journey on the Commuter Line,” she added. KAI Commuter urged all passengers to comply with the regulations, including the ban on smoking, even electronic cigarettes, at stations or on board the Commuter Line. “We will not hesitate to take action against users who violate the rules of using the Commuter Line,” she said.
