Man-eating crocodile caught

SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: A tamer captured yesterday a 3.9
meter-long crocodile that local people believe devoured a man in
Muara Badak village two weeks ago.

Chief of the Bontang police precinct Lt. Col. Yayat Sudrajat
said the beast which was thought to have attacked and devoured
Beddu, 43, was captured in the Celu river.

The authorities have negotiated with VICO, an oil company, to
open the animal's stomach and check for human remains to make
sure the tamer has caught the right crocodile.

The tamer, Arham bin Lamba, said he was sure he got the right
beast. "The wrong one would not take my magic bait," he told
Antara.

In February, citizens of the same area captured a crocodile
that ate a 30-year-old woman.

The crocodile was stuffed and put in the Tenggarong museum
after the woman's remains were removed. (pan)
