Man Dies in Tigaraksa, Tangerang; Wife Surrenders to Police

A man named Joni (51) was found dead, bloodied, in his house in the Kavling Pinang area, Tigaraksa Sub-district, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Friday (6/3). The case came to light after the victim’s wife, Elsa Marlina (25), went to Polresta Tangerang and surrendered herself. Elsa is currently under examination by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Polresta Tangerang. Purwanto, the local RT secretary, said the victim was found dead in the house with several stab wounds. ‘When I arrived there with the police, the victim was lying face down, wearing long pants, no shirt, and there were several cuts,’ Purwanto said on Friday. Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of Polresta Tangerang, Ipda Sandro Tree Bahara, confirmed the incident. He said the case was first known after the wife surrendered to the police. ‘At first, a woman claiming to be the victim’s wife came to surrender to Polresta Tangerang. After that we conducted checks and crime-scene investigations,’ Sandro said. From the crime-scene investigations, police secured a blade (golok) suspected to have been used in the incident. The victim’s body has also been evacuated to RSUD Balaraja for autopsy. However, the police are still probing the case and have not yet named a suspect nor a motive. ‘Because we are still conducting deeper investigations and further inquiries by Satreskrim,’ he said.
