Man Dies at West Jakarta Billiards Hall, Police Investigate Allegations of Assault

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police are investigating allegations of assault against a man, identified only as DM, at a billiards hall in the Pasar Grogol area, which occurred early Sunday morning (10/5/2026).

Head of Public Relations at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Budi Hermanto, said police are also investigating information suggesting the victim was thrown from the second floor of the billiards hall.

“It is true that an alleged assault occurred in the Weston or Pasar Grogol area. Regarding information that the victim was thrown from the second floor, this is still under investigation,” Budi told Kompas.com on Friday (15/5/2026).

The commotion then continued to the second floor.

“The incident began with a commotion at the location, which then continued to the second floor of Pasar Grogol. The victim is suspected of being assaulted by several people, then fell to the ground floor and lost consciousness,” Budi explained.

So far, police have visited the location to conduct a crime scene investigation, examined a number of witnesses, and secured CCTV footage.

Previously, it was reported that DM (28) died after allegedly being a victim of assault at the billiards hall.

The victim’s sister, Mita, said the incident occurred while her brother was playing billiards with his girlfriend on Saturday (9/5/2026).

According to her, the commotion started when the victim’s girlfriend was involved in an argument with another woman.

DM then tried to intervene, but instead became the target of the assault.

Based on information received by Mita from the victim’s girlfriend, DM is also suspected of having been pushed from the second floor before being assaulted again.

“He was beaten up there, and then pushed from the second floor. He was pushed again on the second floor, and after falling to the ground, he was still kicked,” she said.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered bruises all over his body and bleeding on his head, causing him to fall into a coma.

DM was treated at Tarakan Hospital for several days before finally dying on Thursday (14/5/2026).
