Man Dies After Being Struck by a Fallen Tree Amid Heavy Rain in South Jakarta

JAKARTA, South Jakarta — A man has died after being struck by a fallen tree on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, in the early hours of Sunday, 8 March 2026. Mohammad Yohan, head of the BPBD DKI Jakarta Data and Information Center, said the incident occurred around 02:31 WIB as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds battered the area. “Suspected cause is rain accompanied by gusty winds,” Yohan said in a written statement on Sunday. “The victim died and was referred to RS Polri,” he added. In addition, heavy rain also caused floods at several points in Jakarta up to Sunday morning. Based on monitoring up to 04:00 WIB, 39 RT and 13 road segments were submerged. Yohan emphasised that the floods were triggered by the heavy rain that drenched the DKI Jakarta and surrounding areas since Saturday night (7 March 2026) into Sunday morning.
