Man Dies After Being Attacked and Thrown from the Second Floor While Trying to Stop a Fight at a Billiards Hall in West Jakarta
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A man, identified by the initials DM (28), died after allegedly being attacked by a group of people at a billiards hall in the Grogol Petamburan area.
A video received by Kompas.com shows a commotion taking place in a room believed to be the location of the billiards hall.
Another video shows the victim lying unconscious in the parking area, surrounded by several people.
According to Mita, the commotion started when the victim’s girlfriend was involved in an argument with another woman.
The victim then tried to stop the fight.
However, while trying to intervene, a misunderstanding allegedly occurred, and the victim became the target of an attack by a group of men.
Based on information received by Mita from the victim’s girlfriend, the victim’s brother was also allegedly pushed from the second floor before being attacked again.
“He was already being beaten up there, and then he was pushed from the second floor. He was pushed again on the second floor, fell to the ground, and was still being kicked,” she said.
As a result of the incident, the victim lay in a pool of blood and was immediately rushed to Tarakan Hospital for medical treatment.
However, after being treated for several days, the victim died on Thursday (May 14, 2026).
“He was treated but was in a coma. The most fatal injury was to his head, which caused his brainstem to stop functioning,” said Mita.
The victim’s family, according to Mita, has reported the case to the Metro Jaya Police, and the case is currently being handled by the police.
