The Panel of Judges at Jakarta Central District Court has handed down a 12-year prison sentence to Mika Febrianto after finding him guilty of premeditated murder of M Raihan, whose body was discovered near railway tracks in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, whilst screaming for help.

“The defendant Mika Febrianto is hereby declared proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt of committing premeditated murder. The defendant is sentenced to 12 years imprisonment,” stated the court ruling published on the Jakarta Central District Court’s justice system website on Friday, 27 February 2026.

The judge ordered the defendant to remain detained and instructed that the knife used as evidence be destroyed.

According to the prosecutor’s indictment, the murder originated when Mika, a tramadol seller, met a witness named Nico on 9 July 2025. Nico borrowed one tablet of tramadol from Mika at that time.

On 10 July 2025, Nico met the defendant again at Jambatan Tinggi in Tanah Abang. The two became involved in a confrontation. “The defendant did not accept the treatment from witness Nico and challenged him to a one-on-one duel, saying ‘Let’s have a one-on-one duel,’ and witness Nico agreed. However, the duel did not occur because the defendant saw that witness Nico was accompanied by friends, so the defendant returned home to his rental,” the prosecutor’s indictment stated.

The defendant subsequently retrieved a knife and brought it with him. He approached Nico, who was smoking at Jambatan Tinggi in Tanah Abang, and stabbed him at that location. “However, witness Nico blocked the strike using his right thigh, so the knife became lodged in his outer right thigh. When the defendant’s hand was then grabbed by witness Nico, the defendant quickly withdrew the knife and was about to stab witness Nico’s left chest, but an unknown person caught the knife and pushed the defendant away,” said the prosecutor.

On 13 July 2025, the defendant met with victim Raihan. The prosecutor stated the defendant asked why Raihan was looking for his rental. However, the victim ignored the defendant’s question. The prosecutor noted the two had quarrelled when they met again.

On the evening of 14 July 2025, the defendant, who was selling tramadol, saw Raihan walking along the railway tracks. The defendant, having prepared a knife, then followed the victim.

“Then, positioned directly behind victim Muhammad Raihan, the defendant using his right hand quickly drew the knife from his left side and thrust it with full force, striking the victim’s right rear back,” the prosecutor stated.

The defendant then withdrew the knife from the victim’s back, causing blood to pour profusely from the victim’s back. The victim fell forwards whilst using both hands to support his body.

Meanwhile, the defendant went towards the opposite side of the railway tracks and jumped over the station fence, then cleaned the knife and discarded his shirt. He returned to his rental and told his colleague, “Raihan is the kid from yesterday who wanted to confront me. If anyone asks for me, don’t tell them.”

In the middle of the night, a witness named Teguh Wibowo saw Raihan bloodied near the railway tracks. Teguh then took the victim to hospital, but his life could not be saved.

On 15 July 2025, residents in the area searched for the defendant at his rental. Police subsequently arrived and arrested the defendant for prosecution. Police stated the witness had heard the victim calling for help.

The victim was discovered by witnesses identified as S and HK on Monday evening (14 July). The two witnesses initially heard screams of “help” from above the bridge. “The witness saw the victim running towards the bridge whilst screaming ‘Help… help… I’ve been stabbed.’ The victim screamed repeatedly, so the witness turned around. It turned out the victim had already collapsed on the pavement,” said Tanah Abang Police Chief Kompol Haris Akhmad Basuki.
