Man charged with swindling Rp 1.5b
METRO, Lampung: A bank employee will soon stand trial on charges of swindling Rp 1.5 billion (US$690,000) from the local branch of Bank Pembangunan Daerah.
Head of the Metro district court Suratman said that although the court had received the dossier, the exact date of the opening trial has yet to be determined.
"Possibly next week," he told Antara.
The corruption case is one of the largest that the Central Lampung regency has ever brought to trial.
The accused, identified only as AG, will be charged with embezzling state funds from 1987 through 1991 in collusion with businessmen when he was in charge of issuing credit. (pan)
