Man carrying a mini revolver loaded with five rounds arrested in Penjaringan

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Penjaringan Metro Police Sector arrested a man with initials ERK after allegedly carrying a mini revolver loaded with five live rounds and pointing it at residents in the Jembatan DHI area, Jalan Kapuk Raya, Kelurahan Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

The incident began when two witnesses, SR and CL, were hanging out at the scene and the suspect rode past on a motorcycle with a friend, staring at witnesses SR and CL, causing a misunderstanding, according to the Penjaringan Police Chief AKBP Agta Bhuwana Putra, who was accompanied by Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Sampson Sosa Hutapea in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said the suspect ERK shouted at the witnesses with harsh words and the suspect’s motorcycle passed witness SR at a distance of about 20 metres and stopped.

The suspect approached SR and CL, then got off his motorcycle, drew a mini revolver and pointed the pistol at the victim SR.

“The suspect threatened to shoot witness SR, and said, ‘I’ll shoot you’,” he said.

After hearing the threat, SR spontaneously knocked the suspect down and the victim restrained the suspect and handed him over to officers.

“The suspect along with the mini revolver and the weapon containing five rounds were secured,” he said.

ERK and the evidence were taken to Mako Polsek Metro Penjaringan for further development.

“Regarding his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 306 of the Indonesian Penal Code for possessing a firearm with threats of up to 15 years in prison,” he said.
