Man Carrying 36 Illegal Jericans of Pertalite Arrested in East Lombok
A man with the initials ID (40) was secured by police after being caught transporting subsidised fuel oil (BBM) of the Pertalite type illegally in the Keruak area, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Thursday (16/4/2026). The fuel is suspected to be resold to retailers.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the East Lombok Police, Iptu Arie Kusnandar, explained that ID was secured because he could not show official documents to the officers. Consequently, the police seized the vehicle along with 36 jericans containing Pertalite.
“We have secured a man for transporting jericans suspected to contain Pertalite without accompanying transport documents,” Arie clarified on Friday (17/4/2026).
Arie revealed that from the initial examination, the Pertalite was planned to be resold to retailers in several areas of the Keruak Subdistrict. Currently, ID has been secured along with evidence in the form of 36 jericans containing fuel and one vehicle.
For his actions, ID is charged under Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 on Oil and Natural Gas as amended by Law Number 6 of 2023 on Job Creation related to the misuse of subsidised fuel.
“We are still conducting investigations and will summon related parties for further questioning,” Arie added.
