Man arrested with marijuana

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Police have arrested a man for
possession of marijuana.

Spokesman for the southern Sumatra police command Lt. Col.
Muas Musa told Antara yesterday that the suspect, identified as
Ras, 18, was found in possession of dried marijuana leaves.

Muas declined to mention the quantity of the forbidden
substance which the police confiscated.

To date, the local police have arrested 42 people on charges
of trafficking in drugs and seized 225 kilograms of marijuana.

Lahat regency is well-known for its marijuana fields. Police
say that Palembang is also a transit point in the transportation
of marijuana from Aceh to cities in Java and Bali. (pan)
