The suspect was apprehended in Surabaya, East Java. He was caught by the Criminal and Violent Crimes Sub-Directorate of the Makassar City Police on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at around 3:00 PM local time.

“He was already a suspect before being arrested,” he said.

Previously reported, the case of kidnapping experienced by a female student from Kalimantan, identified as MR (20), in Makassar, South Sulawesi, was finally revealed after the owner of the rented house came to check on his property at the Grand River View Housing Complex, Laurua Residence, Jalan Scarlet Scene, No. 16, Barombong Village, Tamalate District.

The homeowner initially came to ensure the condition of the building because the tenant’s rental period had ended on May 10, 2026. However, upon arriving at the location, he found a suspicious situation inside the house. When the door was knocked, a woman appeared with her hands tied.

The surprising discovery became the starting point for uncovering the alleged kidnapping that had lasted for three days. The victim is suspected of being held captive and raped by the perpetrator, identified as DR (29). After managing to get out of the house, the victim asked for help from local residents.

The residents who saw the victim’s condition immediately helped untie her hands and reported the incident to the police. A video recording of the victim being rescued went viral on social media. In the video, the victim appears to be sitting weakly in front of a resident’s house with her hands still tied and suffering several injuries allegedly due to abuse.
