Man arrested in fake ID card scam

BATAM, Riau: Acting on tips, Batam Police finally arrested on Wednesday a self-professed director of a company identified as J.H. and seized dozens of fake identity cards (KTP) from his house at the Griya Permai residential complex.

The police said the suspect sold fake ID cards at prices ranging from Rp 150,000 to Rp 200.000, adding that the forgery was a response to the local administration's strict enforcement of a ruling on supervision of workers from other provinces of the country.

Batam Police chief Adj. Comr. Hadi Utomo said other evidence including confiscated ID cards, stamps and ID forms would be sent to the criminology laboratory for further investigation.--Antara
