Man Arrested in Denpasar for Rape of Minor

A man with the initials DB (28) has been arrested by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit. DB was arrested for the rape of a minor.

DB was arrested after being reported by the victim’s family on Wednesday (5/8/2026). The man was arrested on the day of the report and is currently undergoing examination at the Denpasar Police headquarters.

‘Investigators have found sufficient preliminary evidence to make an arrest of the perpetrator,’ said Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Agus Riwayanto Diputra, in a written statement on Monday (10/8/2026).

Agus explained that DB raped the minor in the South Denpasar District area on Sunday (26/7/2026) at around 5:00 p.m. local time. The man also made threats during his depraved act to prevent the victim from telling her parents about the incident.

Fortunately, the victim was brave enough to tell her parents what had happened. ‘After the victim conveyed the incident to her parents, the family then reported it to the police for legal action,’ Agus said.

Agus revealed that the PPA Unit of the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit has conducted a post-mortem examination (visum et repertum) on the victim. A number of pieces of evidence have also been seized.

However, investigators are still gathering statements from the complainant, the victim, and various witnesses. In addition, investigators are still completing the evidence and coordinating with the public prosecutor regarding the case file.

The Denpasar Police are also coordinating with the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for PPA and the local Social Services. This is being done to ensure the victim receives psychological and social assistance following the incident.

‘Handling cases involving children is a serious concern for us. We are ensuring that the legal process proceeds according to regulations while prioritising the protection of the victim,’ Agus stated.
