Man Arrested in Denpasar After Five Months of Alleged Methamphetamine Distribution

A suspected methamphetamine dealer has been arrested by the Denpasar Police narcotics unit. The man, identified by the initials IKDK (31), was detained at his boarding house on Jalan Sedap Malam Gang Popi, East Denpasar, on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

Denpasar Police public relations head Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya said IKDK admitted to distributing methamphetamine in Denpasar for five months. “The suspect is believed to be a dealer of methamphetamine and has been operating for five months,” Adi said on Friday (28/8/2026).

Police acted after receiving reports of frequent narcotics transactions in the area. Residents said the drug trade was controlled by someone often called Kadek. Officers who had already targeted IKDK detained him as he left his boarding house at around 6.30 pm local time. The team then searched the suspect’s room for evidence.

Officers found 23 packets of crystal suspected to be methamphetamine hidden in a wallet inside his sling bag. Another packet was found in the suspect’s jacket. The total amount of narcotics seized by police weighed 4.35 grams.

“The suspect was found in possession of methamphetamine in small packets intended for sale or distribution in the Denpasar area,” Adi added.

During interrogation, the suspect said he obtained the drugs from someone called Ko Wili, whose whereabouts are unknown. IKDK collected his orders using a dead drop method.

In addition to the methamphetamine, officers also seized supporting items including a bong, electric scales, a spoon made from a pipette, a lighter, and the suspect’s mobile phone.

IKDK will be charged under Article 609 paragraph 2 letter a concerning Class I Non-Plant Narcotics, which carries a prison sentence of between five and twenty years.
