Man Arrested in Cileungsi for Stealing Five Bunches of Bananas from Plantation

“He has been secured at the Cileungsi Police Station, along with the five bunches (of bananas) that were stolen,” said Cileungsi Police Chief Kompol Edison on Saturday (16/5/2026). The incident occurred on Friday (15/5) night. Edison said the perpetrator stole the bananas from a plantation managed by local residents. “It is land owned by Metland that is cultivated by residents,” he explained. After being apprehended by residents, the perpetrator was handed over to the police. Edison said the victim plans to mediate in the case. “They want to mediate between those who planted (the bananas) and the perpetrator,” he said. A post about the theft case circulated on social media. In the post, it was mentioned that the perpetrator had tried to escape. However, his attempt failed after residents caught him. (rdh/azh)
