Man Arrested in Bogor After Being Shouted at as a Thief, Turns Out to Be Fraudster

A video of a man being caught by residents on Jalan Jampang, Gunung Sindur District, Bogor, West Java, has circulated on social media. The man is suspected of fraud and embezzlement of a motorcycle. In the video seen on Saturday (13/6/2026), the incident occurred on Friday (12/6). Several residents and passing motorists were seen detaining the man in the middle of the road. Residents and the man appeared to be arguing. The incident caused traffic in the area to be temporarily obstructed. The man was also shouted at as a motorcycle thief, drawing the attention of residents to capture him. Upon confirmation, Gunung Sindur Police Chief Kompol Budi Santoso verified the incident. The perpetrator has now been detained at the police station. ‘Yes, it was indeed fraud and embezzlement, the person has been detained,’ said Budi. The victim has also reported the incident to the police. He said the perpetrator was shouted at as a motorcycle thief, leading to him being chased by local residents. ‘He has been at the police station since yesterday. The victim has come and filed a report. So the information is that he committed fraud, but he was shouted at as a motorcycle thief,’ he concluded.
