Man arrested for subletting vehicles

BOGOR (JP): Police have arrested a man for allegedly subletting rented cars, Lt. Col. Edmon Ilyas, the chief of the Bogor Police precinct, said yesterday.

Edmon said that officers arrested the suspect, identified as Badrudin, 52, based on information and complaints from his victims.

"In his operation, Badrudin rented a car for one month with a downpayment of Rp 3 million (US$325), but later rented it on to other people for between Rp 8 million and Rp 15 million, depending on the type of the car," he said.

Badrudin is believed to have conducted the illicit practices, which were in violation of the rental contract he signed, for the last two years. His victims included Nuryanto, Bambang and Delvian Noor, Edmon said.

The suspect has reportedly admitted to subletting 15 rented vehicles, including 10 Kijang vans, one Feroza jeep, one Timor sedan and one Mitsubishi van. (24/hhr)
