Man arrested for raping minors

PEMALANG, Central Java: A Pemalang resident has been arrested for charges of raping 13 minors, all boys under 15.

Police chief Lt. Col. Suhartono said on Tuesday the arrest was based on reports from families of three of the children. The man charged with the crime, identified as Sar, was a neighbor of the boys, police said.

Suhartono said Sar confessed to raping the 13 children in the past year. The police chief quoted Sar as saying he had promised the boys supernatural skills in return for sexual favors.

Suhartono said Sar was arrested immediately after the report as locals were about to attack him. If convicted, Sar faces a maximum penalty of five years for having sex with minors.(har)
