Man arrested for falsifying decrees

BOGOR: Bogor Police arrested a man on Thursday at a rented house in Bogor, West Java, for falsifying official decrees on the appointment of civil servants to the ministry of education.

At the house on Jl. Riung Merah, in Taman Yasmin housing complex, police officers also seized evidence including 48 fake seals and 14 forms of false decrees during Thursday's raid.

Bogor Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sudarso said that Kasimin, 39, was arrested for faking a decree appointing teachers to become civil servants.

He said that arrest was made following a report from two of his victims, Kasiman and Catur Fuji Winasih from Banjar Negara in Central Java.

Sudarso explained that Kasimin used to be a civil servant in the education ministry. He quit his job five years ago after he was found to have been involved in a similar case.

The fake decrees were discovered by the Banjar Negara regent, who said that the civil servant numbers given to the two victims actually belonged to other civil servants who had been appointed previously in Banten province.--JP
