Man arrested for drug trafficking
JAKARTA (JP): Police have arrested a man for allegedly selling 95 grams of the amphetamine-derivative shabu-shabu at Sunlight Hotel, Jl. Danau Sunter, North Jakarta, an officer said on Tuesday.
City police spokesman Lt. Col. Edward Aritonang said the suspect, identified as Yanto, alias Aheng, was arrested at the hotel on Monday night.
"We also confiscated the drug from Aheng, who did not resist arrest," Aritonang said.
He said Aheng, a resident of Jl. Kartini, Central Jakarta, was arrested when he tried to sell the drug to an undercover police officer in one of the hotel's rooms at 11 p.m.
Police investigated the incident after receiving a tip-off about the dealer's activities, he said.
Aritonang would not say what price Aheng quoted the officers but the drug is worth millions of rupiah on the black market.
On Nov. 30, police arrested two other dealers in Central Jakarta and confiscated 100 grams of shabu-shabu worth Rp 35 million (US$4,666) from them. (jun)
