Man Arrested Day Before DWP 2025 in Bali Sentenced to Six Years for Drug Trafficking

Ali Sergio alias Nino bin Piergiorgio Somma, a defendant in a drug case uncovered ahead of the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) 2025 in Bali, has been sentenced to six years in prison. The verdict was handed down by a panel of judges at the Denpasar District Court, chaired by AA Putu Putra Ariyana, in case number 522/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Dps. The panel found Ali Sergio legally and convincingly guilty of selling narcotics. ‘Declaring the defendant Ali Sergio alias Nino bin Piergiorgio Somma legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the criminal act of, without right and against the law, selling non-plant-based Group I narcotics exceeding 5 grams in weight,’ the verdict read on Thursday (23/7/2026). In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant was fined Rp 500 million. If the fine is not paid within one month, his assets or income will be seized and auctioned to settle the amount. Should the seizure and auction be insufficient or impossible, the fine will be replaced with 140 days of imprisonment. Ali Sergio was arrested by the operational team of Sub-Directorate IV of the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) on 11 December 2025 at around 10.45 pm WITA in front of Burgerlink on Jalan Pantai Berawa No. 46, Canggu, North Kuta, Badung. The arrest occurred one day before the DWP 2025 event in Bali. Police had previously received information regarding the suspected circulation of ecstasy and cocaine in the area. During a search, officers found a plastic clip containing white powder, which laboratory tests later confirmed to be 11.86 grams net of cocaine. They also discovered 45 ecstasy tablets with a total net weight of 17.55 grams, consisting of 22 tablets with a TMT logo and 23 tablets with a Transformer logo. According to the indictment, Ali Sergio travelled to Bali after receiving information about a planned narcotics transaction linked to the DWP 2025 event. Around November 2025, the defendant was contacted by an individual named Aryo, who is now a fugitive. Aryo invited the defendant to Bali to attend DWP and informed him that there would be a party inquiring about the prices of ecstasy and cocaine. The defendant subsequently offered ecstasy at Rp 600,000 per pill and cocaine at Rp 5.5 million per gram. On 8 December 2025, another fugitive named Bryan contacted the defendant and ordered 40 ecstasy pills and 10 grams of cocaine, transferring a down payment of Rp 50 million. The defendant then contacted a person named Echa to order 45 ecstasy pills and another named Abed to obtain cocaine. The defendant departed for Bali on 9 December 2025. Upon arrival, he received 45 ecstasy pills from an unknown person in the Kedampang area, Kerobokan Kelod. The following day, he received an additional Rp 35 million from Bryan, which was used to pay off the cocaine purchase from Abed. On 11 December 2025, the defendant met Abed and received a plastic clip containing white powder suspected to be cocaine, which he placed inside a black drinking bottle with a green cap. He then headed to the Berawa Beach area but was arrested by police in front of Burgerlink. The arrest of Ali Sergio was part of a series of drug case disclosures conducted by Bareskrim ahead of DWP 2025. During the operation, Bareskrim arrested 17 suspects from six drug networks between 9 and 14 December 2025. However, the indictment for Ali Sergio did not explicitly identify him as a member of a specific syndicate. Prosecutors detailed the involvement of several other parties in the procurement and planned sale of the narcotics, including Aryo, Bryan, Echa, and Abed, all of whom remain at large. The panel of judges ordered that the time the defendant spent in arrest and detention be fully deducted from his sentence. The defendant remains in custody. The cocaine and ecstasy evidence was ordered confiscated for destruction, while an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a white Honda Scoopy with registration number DK 5620 FCZ were confiscated for the state.
