Man Arrested Day Before DWP 2025 in Bali Sentenced to Six Years for Drug Trafficking

Ali Sergio alias Nino bin Piergiorgio Somma, one of the defendants in the string of drug cases uncovered ahead of the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) 2025 in Bali, has been sentenced to six years in prison by the Denpasar District Court.

The verdict was read out by a panel of judges chaired by AA Putu Putra Ariyana in case number 522/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Dps. The panel declared that Ali Sergio had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of selling non-plant Category I narcotics weighing more than 5 grams.

“The defendant Ali Sergio alias Nino bin Piergiorgio Somma has been legally and convincingly proven guilty of unlawfully and against the law selling non-plant Category I narcotics weighing more than 5 grams,” the verdict read on Thursday (23/7/2026).

In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant was fined Rp500 million. If the fine is not paid within one month, the defendant’s assets or income will be seized and auctioned to settle the fine.

If seizure and auction are insufficient or not possible, the fine will be replaced with 140 days’ imprisonment.

Ali Sergio was arrested by the operational team of Sub-Directorate IV of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department’s Anti-Narcotics Directorate at around 22:45 Central Indonesia Time on 11 December 2025 in front of Burgerlink, Jalan Pantai Berawa Number 46, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Badung.

The arrest took place one day before DWP 2025 was held in Bali. Police had earlier received information about the suspected circulation of ecstasy and cocaine in the Bali area.

During a search, police found one plastic clip containing white powder which, according to laboratory tests, proved to contain cocaine weighing 11.86 grams net.

In addition, 45 ecstasy pills weighing a total of 17.55 grams net were found. The evidence consisted of 22 tablets bearing the TMT logo and 23 tablets bearing the Transformer logo.

In the indictment, prosecutors revealed that Ali Sergio came to Bali after receiving information about a planned narcotics transaction linked to the occasion of DWP 2025.

Around November 2025, the defendant was reportedly contacted by Aryo, who is now on the wanted list. Aryo invited the defendant to Bali to attend DWP and conveyed that there were parties who would enquire about the price of ecstasy and cocaine.

The defendant then reportedly offered ecstasy at Rp600,000 per pill and cocaine at Rp5.5 million per gram. On 8 December 2025, Bryan, also reportedly on the wanted list, contacted the defendant and ordered 40 ecstasy pills and 10 grams of cocaine.

Bryan then reportedly transferred a down payment of Rp50 million.

The defendant subsequently contacted Echa to order 45 ecstasy pills and Abed to obtain cocaine.

The defendant departed for Bali on 9 December 2025. Upon arrival, he reportedly received 45 ecstasy pills through someone unknown to him in the Kedampang area of Kerobokan Kelod.

A day later, the defendant reportedly received an additional Rp35 million from Bryan. The money was then used to pay Abed for the cocaine purchase.

On 11 December 2025, the defendant reportedly met Abed and received one plastic clip containing white powder suspected to be cocaine. The item was then placed inside a black drinking bottle with a green cap.

The defendant then headed to the Pantai Berawa area. However, while in front of Burgerlink, police arrested him.

The arrest of Ali Sergio formed part of a series of drug cases uncovered by the National Police Criminal Investigation Department ahead of DWP 2025.

During that operation, the Criminal Investigation Department secured 17 suspects from six drug networks in the period 9–14 December 2025.

However, in the indictment against Ali Sergio, the defendant was not explicitly named as a member of any particular syndicate. Prosecutors outlined a number of parties allegedly involved in the chain of obtaining and planning the sale of the narcotics, including Aryo, Bryan, Echa and Abed, all of whom remain on the wanted list.

According to the counting and weighing report, the ecstasy seized weighed 19.63 grams gross or 17.55 grams net, while the white powder weighed 12.5 grams gross or 11.86 grams net.

In this case, Ali Sergio was charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Penal Adjustment.

The panel of judges ruled that the period of arrest and detention already served by the defendant shall be deducted in full from the sentence imposed.

The defendant remains in detention. The cocaine and ecstasy evidence was confiscated to be destroyed, while one iPhone 11 Pro Max unit and one white Honda Scoopy with registration plate DK 5620 FCZ were confiscated for the state.
