Man arrested after two-year hunt

MANILA (AFP): A fugitive ethnic Chinese businessman who
murdered a student in a 1991 traffic dispute was arrested in the
northern Philippines on Tuesday, ending a two-year hunt for one
of the country's most wanted men, police said.

Rolito Go was captured in a police raid at dawn in his
farmhouse near Lubao town, where he has been living under the
assumed name of Ernesto Diaz, they said.

He had escaped from a provincial jail east of Manila in the
early hours of Nov. 1, 1993, shortly before a lower court
sentenced him in absentia to life in prison for the July 1991
fatal shooting of an ethnic Chinese student, Eldon Maguan, in
suburban Manila.

"This is great news in our campaign against crime," Interior
Secretary Robert Barbers said in a radio interview here.
