Man arrested after extorting Jakarta-registered vehicle during Persib championship parade
A man identified as D was arrested after extorting a driver of a B-registered vehicle (from Jakarta and surrounding areas) during Persib’s championship parade on Jalan IR H Djuanda in Bandung last Sunday (24 May 2026). The suspect is believed to have acted while under the influence of alcohol.
Coblong Police Chief Kompol Ricky Erikson stated that a man identified as D extorted a driver of a B-registered vehicle during the Persib championship parade. He said the suspect demanded money from drivers passing along Dago Street.
“Only one victim has been identified, as we only observed one incident. The victim did not report the incident to police at the time, but it went viral online yesterday,” he said on Saturday (31 May 2026) evening.
He added that the suspect demanded Rp50,000 from the victim. Police immediately pursued and apprehended the suspect after the incident went viral on social media.
“The suspect has been detained at Coblong Police Station, and investigations and interrogation reports are now being processed there,” he said.
He said the suspect was euphoric after drinking alcohol while celebrating Persib’s victory. He allegedly ran out of money and demanded cash from passing motorists.
The suspect’s actions went viral on social media and drew significant attention.
