Man apprehended for abusing underaged boys

JAKARTA (JP): A man, identified only as Vr, 49, yesterday was
reportedly caught by police having sexual relations with
underaged boys in his house at Cipinang, East Jakarta.

City police spokesman Lt. Col. Bambang Permantoro said that
police began trailing Vr, a band player, after receiving
complaints about his behavior.

"Police received the information about his behavior from his
neighbors," Bambang said.

Vr, on the night he was caught, reportedly brought a 12-year-
old boy, identified as Rus, home with him at around midnight,
according to Bambang.

Police also found a 14 year-old boy, identified as Sup, in
Vr's house. According to Bambang, Sup had been locked in the
house for two weeks.

"Sup has admitted that he had been sexually abused and locked
up by Vr," Bambang said.

Vr, who was placed in detention at the Duren Sawit police
precinct, admitted to being homosexual and having a preference
for underaged boys. He has been divorced since 1990.

"Vr pursued the boys by offering them money. After the boys
were interested he took them to his house," said Bambang.

Police found out that at least four other boys -- identified
only as DI, 11, So, 14, S, 12, and To, 12 -- also had been
sexually abused by Vr. One of the boys, To, had also been beaten
by Vr, according to Bambang.

"Vr picked up his victims on the street," Bambang said.

A number of acquaintances of Vr, Su, Sa, He and Jo, who were
investigated by police, confirmed Vr's sexual inclination,
Bambang said.

Vr, according to Bambang, will face charges of sexual abuse
against underaged children, which carries a maximum sentence of
five years in prison. (01)
