Man admits raping niece

JAKARTA (JP): Bekasi police announced yesterday that the man
detained on suspicion of raping and killing a 15-year-old girl is
the victim's.

Bekasi Police Chief Lt. Col. Hari Pribadi said the suspect,
identified only as Mzr, 26, is a younger brother of the victim's
father.

During police questioning, Mzr confessed to the rape and murder.
He said had been deeply hurt by members of his elder brother's
family, who called him a thief and told him he could no longer stay
at their house.

Hari said that on Saturday, the day of the murder, Mzr was
sleeping when Tri Noviarti, his niece, woke him up and told him to
leave the house because she was going to school and did not want her
uncle to stay inside the house.

Mzr got angry and grabbed a hard object with which he beat his
niece into unconsciousness before raping her, Hari quoted the
suspect as saying.

Mzr was arrested by police three days after the murder.(bsr)
