Mampang Police Explain Nabilah O’Brien Case, Kemang Restaurant Owner
The police from Mampang Prapatan Sector explained the case involving Nabilah O’Brien, owner of a restaurant in Kemang, South Jakarta, who has become a suspect after she reported a couple alleged to have stolen food from her restaurant. Initially, Nabilah reported the couple to the Mampang Prapatan Police Station. Subsequently, the couple reported Nabilah for disseminating CCTV footage from her restaurant.
‘The incident at Restoran Bibi Kelinci involved two separate cases reported to different police offices,’ said the Mampang Prapatan Police on Friday (6 March 2026).
In the first case, Nabilah reported a couple identified as ZK and ESR for alleged criminal theft under Article 363 of the KUHP. The case was reported to the Mampang Prapatan Police Station in late September 2025. The couple suspected of stealing food at Nabilah’s restaurant has been named suspects. The police will examine them next week. ‘As for the two suspects, they have been named as suspects and are scheduled for examination on Monday, 9 March 2026. However, their legal representatives have sent a letter requesting a postponement of the examination,’ he said.
Meanwhile, the couple ZK and ESR reported Nabilah to Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri. Nabilah was reported for uploading video when ZK and ESR were at the restaurant during the alleged theft. ‘The second case concerns the posting of CCTV footage to social media handled by Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri, in which Ms NAA is named as a respondent,’ he said. The Mampang Prapatan Police explained that in this case there are two different cases with different object matters and handled at different police offices.
The alleged theft was captured on CCTV and the video went viral on social media. The victims decided to report to the police because the couple did not respond to the demand letter (somasi) sent. ‘We sent a demand letter with a deadline that should have been today for them to fulfil. But there was no response,’ said the restaurant owner’s legal representative, Eishen Simatupang, on Friday (26 September 2025). He explained the incident began when the couple came to the restaurant and ordered 11 meals and three drinks totalling Rp 530,150. While preparing the order, the couple forced their way into the kitchen claiming the order was taking too long. They went to the kitchen to take the food they ordered. ‘So we filed complaints with our staff with all its dynamics,’ he said. After being served the meals, the couple left the restaurant without paying for the meals and drinks ordered. In the video, restaurant staff could be seen chasing the couple. The couple reported under the alleged violation of Article 363 KUHP on theft.
