Mampang Access Still Blocked, Police Implement Traffic Diversions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate reported that traffic flow on several main roads in South Jakarta experienced sequential congestion on Tuesday, as access to Jalan Mampang Prapatan remains impassable for vehicles. The disruption occurred because officers are evacuating a heavy equipment transporter truck that became stuck at the Kapten Tendean pedestrian bridge (JPO).
Kabagbinopsnal of the Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate, Commissioner Robby Hefados, explained that congestion was observed stretching from the Jalan Suryo and Jalan Senopati areas, continuing to Jalan Wolter Mongonsidi. “Additionally, vehicle density is occurring from the east on Jalan Warung Buncit Raya, along with a considerably long queue of vehicles on Jalan HR Rasuna Said,” he stated.
To alleviate the build-up of vehicles, officers on the ground are implementing traffic engineering with a diversion scheme. Vehicles coming from Jalan Suryo are being entirely diverted towards Jalan Wolter Mongonsidi, while vehicles from the Mampang direction heading to the Blok M area are being redirected via Jalan Warung Buncit Raya. Furthermore, vehicles from the Rasuna Said intersection are being directed straight towards Warung Buncit to prevent congestion at the junction.
The South Jakarta Transportation Agency (Sudin Perhubungan) has urged motorists to avoid the Kapten Tendean road section towards Blok M due to the incident. “During the evacuation process starting at 10:00, the flow of vehicles towards Blok M will be diverted. Vehicles from the east are diverted in front of the Mampang Police Sector, while vehicles from Warung Buncit are directed through the Mampang Underpass towards Jalan Gatot Subroto,” said South Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Bernad Octavianus.
Bernad stated that the pedestrian bridge suffered severe damage after being struck by the truck. As a result of the impact, one of the support pillars detached from its foundation, necessitating the immediate evacuation of the bridge for the safety of road users. A total of 20 personnel from the South Jakarta Transportation Agency have been deployed at various points to manage traffic flow and ease congestion during the evacuation process.
