New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has responded to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly. Mamdani stated that Netanyahu’s lies, which attempt to cover up the genocide of Palestinians, will not alter the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants.

“No amount of lies can change the fact that he remains the subject of International Criminal Court arrest warrants,” Mamdani said, as reported by Reuters on Friday (25/9/2026).

Mamdani asserted that Netanyahu utilised his speech at the UN General Assembly to repeat baseless falsehoods regarding Israel’s actions in Palestine.

“Netanyahu used his speech at the UN to repeat unfounded lies aimed at covering up the ‘genocide against Palestinians’ that he is committing,” he said.

During the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu accused Mamdani of being ‘antisemitic’. Mamdani, who is known for his sharp criticism of Israel, was one of the primary figures targeted by Netanyahu during his address on Thursday (24/9) afternoon US time.

In his speech, Netanyahu claimed that since Mamdani took office, “many Jewish people no longer feel safe in New York.”

“Since you were elected Mayor of this city, many Jewish people no longer feel safe in New York. They speak to me. They convey this to me. This is no longer the city we remember. This city has changed so rapidly,” the Israeli Prime Minister stated.

Netanyahu also accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas, even claiming that Mamdani’s wife, Rama Duwaji, had previously liked a post praising the Hamas attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023, which triggered the Gaza war.

“You refuse to condemn all of that. You wrongly and repeatedly accuse Israel of committing genocide,” he said.

Finally, Netanyahu claimed that Mamdani had attempted to silence him and prevent his visit to New York City.

“You tried to prevent me from coming here; you tried to silence me. You cannot silence me. You cannot silence the truth,” he asserted.
