Mama Sinta Files Police Report Against LBH Merauke Chief Over 'Pesta Babi' Film
Yasinta Moiwend, commonly known as Mama Sinta, has filed a police report against the head of LBH Merauke, identified as JTW, regarding the film ‘Pesta Babi: Colonialism in Our Time’ with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
The report was registered under number LP/B/3843/V/2026/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya dated 29 May 2026. The LBH Merauke chief is reported under Articles 65 and 67 concerning Personal Data Protection.
Hamonangan Daulay, Mama Sinta’s legal advisor, told reporters at the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya building in South Jakarta on Friday evening (29/5): “This report is against an individual, specifically the LBH Merauke chief. Jhon, his initials are JTW.”
Mama Sinta expressed her distress over the film’s screening featuring her without her consent. She stated, “They screened ‘Pesta Babi’ everywhere; I’m hurt and deeply disappointed. There was no request for permission or discussion. They are criminals.”
“I have my face displayed everywhere in the film, and I’m hurt. Without my permission, that’s why I came to Jakarta. That’s all I have to say,” she added.
She explained her initial involvement: she learned about her participation when a man named Tigor invited her to watch the film. “Tigor took me to Jayapura for an event, and after it concluded, he asked us to watch ‘Pesta Babi’. At that moment, I thought it was about slaughtering a pig, but it turned out to be screened at Maranatha Hall. That’s when I saw my face,” she said.
“I saw it with my own eyes, why was my face shown without my consent? That’s what upset me and my family,” she added.
She confirmed she was unaware of her inclusion in the film and was shocked upon seeing it on April 8. “I never knew I was involved. No indication at all. I was shocked when I saw my face during the screening of ‘Pesta Babi’.”
Meanwhile, filmmaker Dandhy Laksono addressed the issue in a personal Instagram post, stating he was unaware of Mama Sinta’s grievances. “We never truly knew what Yasinta Moiwend was going through in remote Papua. Whatever appears on social media, we should refrain from judging her. Even if her statements are entirely her own choice, isn’t everyone entitled to make their own decisions?” he wrote.
