Maluku Regional Police Examine Two Suspected Stabbers of Nus Kei

The Maluku Regional Police are examining two individuals suspected of stabbing the Chairman of the DPD II of the Golkar Party in Southeast Maluku, Agrapinus Rumatora or Nus Kei, which occurred at Langgur Airport on Sunday (19/4).

“The two suspected perpetrators, initialled HR (28) and FU (36), arrived in Ambon earlier today to undergo further examination,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner Rositah Umasugi, in Ambon on Monday.

Upon arrival at Pattimura Airport in Ambon, the two suspects were immediately taken to the Maluku Regional Police Headquarters for intensive questioning.

Previously, after being arrested, HR and FU were secured at the Brimob Headquarters in Southeast Maluku before being transferred to Ambon.

However, the police have not yet disclosed in detail the reason for transferring the two suspects to Ambon. The motive behind the stabbing incident is also still under investigation.

“I don’t know yet, I haven’t checked, so as not to give incorrect information. Up to now, the Police Chief also cannot be reached, so just wait and we’ll be informed later,” Rositah stated.

As a result of the incident, the victim sustained serious stab wounds and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. However, shortly afterwards, the victim was reported to have passed away.

To date, the police are still delving into the case, including uncovering the motive and the possibility of involvement by other parties.

The police also urge the public, especially the victim’s family and sympathisers, to exercise restraint.

“We urge against carrying out retaliatory actions that could escalate the situation. Entrust the handling of this case to the National Police. Currently, the situation in Southeast Maluku is safe and conducive,” Rositah said.

The Maluku Regional Police assure that developments in the handling of the case will be communicated periodically to the public.
