Maluku Police Launch 2026 Sympathetic Operation Without Law Enforcement
The Maluku Regional Police (Polda Maluku) is prioritising an educational and humanistic approach in the implementation of Operasi Simpatik Salawaku 2026, refraining from legal enforcement against traffic violators during the operation. Director of Traffic for Polda Maluku, Senior Commissioner Yudi Kristanto, stated in Ambon that the operation is carried out by emphasising educational, persuasive, and humanistic approaches. Personnel in the field will provide appeals and socialisation on traffic safety through the 3S principle: senyum (smile), sapa (greet), and salam (salute). He said the main focus is to increase public awareness, not to carry out enforcement. Operasi Simpatik Salawaku 2026 will run for 10 days, from 22 June to 1 July 2026, focusing on preemptive and preventive activities to raise public awareness about the importance of traffic safety. According to Yudi, this policy aligns with the spirit of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration, which emphasises service and a police presence that is closer to the community. He noted that no repressive actions will be taken during the operation, aiming to build positive interactions with the community to foster a traffic order culture born from collective awareness. He expressed hope that this educational approach will reduce the number of violations and potential traffic accidents, while strengthening a culture of safety on the roads. Yudi also reminded all involved personnel to carry out their duties professionally, with discipline and full responsibility, while maintaining a humanistic attitude and looking after their health and safety during the operation. The ultimate goal is to realise conducive security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow in the Maluku region. Rositah added that through this operation, Polda Maluku invites the public to become pioneers of traffic safety, with an approach that is not solely about law enforcement but about fostering the understanding that safety on the road is a shared need. She noted that the momentum leading up to the 80th Bhayangkara Day is an opportunity for the police to strengthen partnerships with the community through humanistic and responsive service. Polda Maluku also urges the public to obey traffic regulations, use safety equipment while driving, and make safety a daily culture to create safe, orderly, and secure traffic conditions throughout the Maluku region.
