The Indonesian Ombudsman Representative for Maluku has opened a Complaint Post for the 2026 Student Admission Selection (SPMB) to ensure the process is transparent, accountable, and free from maladministration. Head of the Indonesian Ombudsman Representative for Maluku, Hasan Selamat, stated in Ambon on Saturday that the opening of the complaint post is part of a supervisory effort to ensure all stages of the SPMB proceed according to regulations and provide quality public services to the community. “We are opening the 2026 SPMB Complaint Post as a means for the public to submit reports if they find suspected violations or do not receive services according to the provisions during the new student admission process,” he said. The Maluku Ombudsman has also held a coordination meeting on 2026 SPMB supervision with several stakeholders, including the Maluku Provincial Education Office, the Ambon City Education Office, the Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP), the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Maluku Province, and the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Ambon City. According to Hasan, there are four main aspects that are the focus of the Ombudsman’s supervision in this year’s SPMB implementation. First, to ensure that all stages of registration and verification of student files proceed in an orderly manner according to applicable regulations, both through the online system and administrative document verification. Second, to ensure that each educational unit fills the admission quota according to the number and pathways determined by the local government without any addition or reduction of quotas outside the technical guidelines. Third, Hasan continued, the Ombudsman is encouraging the Education Office and all schools to activate complaint channels during the SPMB process so that the public can easily obtain information, consult, or submit complaints. Fourth, the Ombudsman reminded all parties not to engage in entrustment practices or other forms of intervention that could violate the principle of justice in new student admissions. “The selection must run objectively and provide equal opportunities for all prospective students. There must be no entrustment practices or interventions that could potentially harm the community,” he said. Hasan hopes that all stages of the 2026 SPMB in Maluku can run smoothly and produce a student admission process with integrity and uphold the principles of public service. To support this oversight, the public can submit reports via the Maluku Ombudsman WhatsApp Centre at number 08111-46-3737 or come directly to the Indonesian Ombudsman Representative Office in Maluku on Jalan Rijali, Rijali Village, Sirimau District, Ambon City. According to him, public participation is an important element in overseeing the implementation of SPMB so that it is transparent and free from maladministration. “Public reports will be an important part of ensuring the implementation of the 2026 SPMB runs transparently, accountably, and in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.
