Ambon (ANTARA) - The Maluku Provincial Government is accelerating the assessment and determination of compensation for communities affected by the Abadi Field Development National Strategic Project in the Masela Block, as part of resolving social impacts.

Maluku Regional Secretary Sadali Ie stated in Ambon on Thursday that the acceleration is being carried out through coordination between the Integrated Social Impact Handling Team (PDSK), SKK Migas, INPEX Masela Ltd., and the Public Appraisal Services Office (KJPP).

“The KJPP will calculate the amount according to the provisions. After the assessment results are submitted, the Integrated Team will provide a recommendation to the Governor of Maluku to determine the amount and the entitled parties through a Governor’s Decree,” he said.

According to Sadali, resolving the social impact is an important stage to provide certainty to affected communities while supporting the smooth implementation of the National Strategic Project.

He emphasised that the entire process is carried out according to mechanisms regulated in laws and regulations so that the compensation determination is objective, transparent, and fair.

SKK Migas Representative George Nicholas Simanjuntak said that accelerating the completion of the Masela Block is a concern because the project plays an important role in increasing national oil and gas production and driving economic growth in Maluku.

The Maluku Provincial Government, SKK Migas, and INPEX continue to strengthen coordination so that the resolution of social impacts proceeds in line with the development stages of the Abadi Field in the Masela Block.

The Masela Block is a National Strategic Project in the oil and gas sector located in the Arafura Sea, with an investment value of approximately US$20.9 billion, projected to support national energy security and regional economic growth.
