Mall yet to build public facilities

DEPOK: Depok city council lambasted the opening of the Hypermart superstore at the Depok Town Square (Detos) recently, claiming that the developer had failed to comply with its obligation to provide public facilities.

Mutaqin, a member of the council, said on Wednesday that Detos should honor the decisions made by the council and the administration, and demanded that the company finish constructing public facilities such as storm drains, pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and a slow lane before the grand opening.

Detos's obligations were clearly stated in its building permit, he said, adding that if these obligations had been met, there would be no reason for the administration or city council to object to the opening of the mall. -- Antara
