PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta is advising train passengers to arrive earlier at stations, especially Yogyakarta Station, to anticipate sterilisation and road traffic diversions due to the 80th anniversary parade of the Yogyakarta Palace King Sri Sultan HB X on Thursday, 2 April 2026.

The parade will impact traffic diversions, mainly in the Malioboro area and surroundings, from 06:00 to 12:00 WIB, involving around 13,218 participants from 438 villages across DIY.

Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that KAI has sent SMS and WhatsApp blasts to customers according to the departure manifest for 2 April 2026.

“The advisory messages contain information urging arrival earlier at the station so that the journey remains smooth and safe,” she said on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

Feni advised all customers departing, especially from Yogyakarta Station, to estimate travel time to the station and arrive earlier. “To avoid getting caught in traffic congestion and missing the train,” she said.

Despite the major event in the Malioboro area to the Yogyakarta Palace, Feni assured that train operations will continue normally according to schedule.

“With this advisory, it is hoped that the public and customers can participate in maintaining smooth mobility and still travel by train comfortably,” said Feni.

Meanwhile, the General Chairman of the Paguyuban Lurah and Pamong Kalurahan Nayantaka DIY, Gandang Hardjanata, estimated that the crowd at the event would be around 10,000 to 12,000 people. “The plan is for each village to send 20-30 representatives,” he said.

In the parade titled Mangayubagya 80 Tahun Yuswo Dalem Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, it is scheduled to start at 07:30 WIB. Village heads and officials will wear traditional Javanese attire typical of Yogyakarta, while the general public who wish to join can wear batik.

One of the main elements in this parade is the presentation of the Gelondong Pangarem-arem, consisting of agricultural produce that reflects the potential of each village in DIY.

The Head of the DIY Transportation Department, Chrestina Erni Widyastuti, stated that the road closures will be from the northern side of Teteg Malioboro to the southern area.

These closures also include side roads leading towards Malioboro because thousands of people are expected to walk to the assembly point at Kilometre Zero and the Yogyakarta Palace. “Side roads towards the Palace will also be temporarily closed,” she said.

Technically, vehicles from the north heading to Jalan Malioboro will be fully diverted.

Meanwhile, traffic from the west at Simpang PKU will be diverted to Jalan Bhayangkara. From the east, closures will be at Simpang Empat Gondomanan leading to Jalan Panembahan Senopati, including access from Kilometre Zero to the west towards RS PKU Muhammadiyah.

Engineering also targets Simpang Empat Kauman leading east. These closures are scheduled from the morning until around 12:00 WIB or until the event concludes.

To avoid vehicle build-up for participants, the committee has divided parking pockets based on origin areas. VIP guest parking is centralised at Keben Keraton. Participants from Yogyakarta City are directed to special parking areas (TKP) at Sriwedani and Pasar Sore, while those from Sleman Regency are at the DIY DPRD building and Jalan Perwakilan.

For participants from Bantul Regency, parking is provided at TKP Senopati. Participants from Gunungkidul Regency will occupy the Kepatihan area and Jalan Suryatmajan, while groups from Kulon Progo Regency are provided space at Jalan Ahmad Dahlan.

The arrival order of groups has also been arranged accordingly, starting with Yogyakarta City, followed by Sleman, Bantul, Kulon Progo, and finally Gunungkidul Regency to adjust travel duration.
