Maleo launch after election

JAKARTA: An Australian government minister has confirmed
Indonesia's second "national car", the Maleo, will be launched
after the general election in May.

The Victorian Minister for Tertiary Education and Training
Phil Honeywood said he had been told by the State Minister of
Research and Technology B.J. Habibie that President Soeharto
would launch prototypes of the car after the election.

The Maleo has been designed by Victorian firm Millard Car
Design and will be powered by a 1200cc two-stroke Orbital engine.
