Maleo Hospital Reopens After Legal Issues Prompted Temporary Closure

The Sorong City Government officially reopened the operational services of Maleo Hospital on Tuesday (4/8). The reopening commenced with a press conference in the Anggrek Meeting Room on the second floor of the Sorong Mayor’s Office, before proceeding to the hospital itself. The event was attended by the Head of the Sorong City Health Office, Jemima Elisabeth Lobat, Assistant III of the Sorong City Regional Secretariat, Musa Fonataba, Head of the Civil Service Police Unit, Udin, Head of the Legal Department, Ludwig C.A. Malaseme, and the Investigation Audit Team. In her remarks, the Head of the Health Office stated that the reopening of Maleo Hospital represents the Sorong City Government’s commitment to improving the quality of health services, ensuring patient safety, and restoring public trust. Prior to resuming operations, the Health Office conducted an independent investigation audit which produced a number of recommendations for improvement. All recommendations have been followed up by the management of Maleo Hospital, including strengthening coordination among health workers, compliance with standard operating procedures, medical record documentation, patient referral systems, and clinical service governance. Through this reopening, the Sorong City Government hopes that Maleo Hospital will provide professional, humane, high-quality, and trustworthy health services for all residents of Sorong City.
