Male body in a junior high school uniform found floating in the Tambun River, Bekasi

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – A male body was found floating in the flow of Kali Sekunder Perum VGH 5, Satria Mekar Village, Tambun Utara Sub-district, Bekasi Regency, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 2 March 2026. The body was wearing a batik shirt from the SMP 158 Jakarta Timur uniform and a grey T-shirt bearing ‘Family Gathering 2014 PT Mangul Jaya.’ At the time of discovery, the victim was believed to have died about three days earlier. The Tambun Selatan Police Chief, Kompol Wuriyanti, said they had coordinated with SMPN 158 Jakarta Timur regarding the discovery of the body. “Results of our coordination with SMPN 158 Jakarta Timur confirm that, up to now, there are no active students from SMPN 158 reported missing,” Wuriyanti said when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. “Results of coordination with the Pologadung Police Station and the Head of the PPA/PPO of the East Jakarta Police, up to now there have been no missing person reports in the last week,” she said. Wuriyanti noted that the victim stood about 170 centimetres tall and weighed approximately 80 kilogrammes, with straight hair that is cut neatly. However, the identification process faced difficulties due to the body starting to decay. “The fingerprints could not be read because they were damaged due to early decay,” she said. “The first people to discover it were children walking by. It was then reported to residents and the RT head. Then to the Bhabinkamtibmas,” she added. Regarding the cause of death, police cannot yet determine whether the victim died as a result of criminal acts. “The main thing at the moment is to identify the victim, so that we can trace back the last activities of the deceased,” she said. Currently, the body is at Bekasi Regency General Hospital (RSUD) for further processing. “If residents know or feel that a family member has been missing for more than four days, please contact Tambun Selatan Police Station for identity matching,” she said.
